Akmal Zharif Bin Abdullah, Datacenter Manager, Aeon Credit Service (M) Berhad [KLSE: AEONCR]

In the high-stakes world of data center operations, where seamless connectivity, uninterrupted power and flawless infrastructure are crucial for business growth, only a few professionals can navigate its complexities with skill and precision. Akmal Zharif Bin Abdullah stands out as one such expert. An experienced data center operations engineer with over two years in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment, he combines technical acumen with exceptional problem-solving skills, making a significant impact in the dynamic field.

His professional journey in the data center industry began in 2019 when he assumed the position of data center operator at CGC Malaysia on a contractual basis. In this role, he was entrusted with overseeing the seamless operation of the data center. His responsibilities encompassed critical functions such as managing personnel access, assisting vendors with preventive maintenance and monitoring the data center’s environment, including safety parameters like power shortages and water leaks.

This extensive experience, combined with his expertise in Microsoft Excel, asset management, and facility management, helped establish Abdullah as a dedicated professional committed to maintaining the highest operational efficiency and safety standards.

Building on this knowledge, he served as a Datacenter Operator at Accion Labs. His career trajectory continued to rise as he transitioned to a prominent role in Datacenter Operations at Crestino Tech Solution, where he assumed the responsibility of managing and maintaining the datacenter for its optimal condition.

Currently serving as the data center manager at AEON Credit Service (M) Berhad, Abdullah has made a notable impact in the two months since his appointment. His ability to optimize operations and manage the intricate systems that power modern business infrastructures is evident through the innovative solutions and strategies he has implemented.

What makes this journey particularly unique is his transition from chemistry to technology. Abdullah was a trained chemist before his extensive career in data center operations. He earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in industrial chemistry from Universiti Putra Malaysia, where he worked as a research assistant for over two years. This foundation in chemistry honed his analytical skills significantly while deepening his understanding of problem-solving and process optimization.

However, driven by a passion for innovation and technology, Abdullah made a bold career shift into data center operations. This unique blend of chemical knowledge and technological acumen has made him a highly effective leader in data center management.

In addition to his technical expertise, Abdullah has honed exceptional communication and customer service skills throughout his career. These skills have played a crucial role in his professional development and success. His journey began as a sales assistant at CG Computers Sdn Bhd, where communication and customer service were paramount. In this role, Abdullah maintained a monthly sales target of over RM50000, a goal he consistently met due to his strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with customers effectively.

He was also actively involved in product promotion and customer service, assisting in increasing sales and ensuring a positive experience for clients. This proficiency in retail sales, effective communication and sales promotion contributed to Abdullah’s success in the retail environment while enhancing his ability to work independently and as part of a team.

From his early beginnings in chemistry to his rise as a key figure in data center operations, Abdullah has consistently demonstrated the ability to bridge diverse fields, harnessing his unique skill set to drive operational success. His story is a testament to how passion can propel an individual to the forefront of a rapidly evolving industry. As he continues to shape the future of data center management, Abdullah's influence will resonate within the industry for years to come.
